Short story competition
We want your short stories on the theme of 'Brighton – past, present and future' for two evenings of live fiction at the NVT, on the 25th and 26th of May. Winning entries will be read by a team of NVT storytellers.
Please email your short stories, of 1500 words max, to: brightonnewshound@hotmail.co.uk. Deadline for entries is midnight, 25th April 2012.
NVT's Iron is an award-winner!
NVT came up trumps in the 2011 Brighton & Hove Arts Council awards. Our recent production of Iron by Rona Munro, directed by Jerry Lyne won the following accolades:
- Bea Waters Challenge Cup for Best Overall Production
- Best Actress: Erica Thornton
- Best Sound Design: Jezz Bowden & Daniel Stevens
- Best Lighting Design: Strat Mastoris
Also nominated were Jerry Lyne (Best Director), Alistair Lock (Best Actor), Sandie Armstrong (Best Actress), and the production itself (the Arthur Churchill Award for Excellence). Many congratulations to Jerry and his entire cast and crew.
10-Minute Play Competition 2012
New Venture Theatre, in association with The Sussex Playwrights' Club, have launched their 10-Minute Play Competition, 2012.
Arts Council awards grant to NVT
NVT are delighted to announce we have been awarded 50% funding towards upgrading our Studio Theatre. We will be installing climate control, secondary glazing and new blackout blinds. This will greatly improve the comfort and ambience within the Studio for both audience, performers and production crew alike, making the space more attractive and welcoming for all. www.artscouncil.org.uk

Online Box Office
After reviewing feedback from users of the online box office we have opted to run with TicketSource. Our listings page can be found at www.newventuretheatre.ticketsource.co.uk
Of course, you can still purchase advance tickets by post, using the booking form on flyers. Remaining tickets will be sold on the door, but you are advised to purchase in advance wherever possible.

Jubilee Fundraising Appeal
We launched our Jubilee fundraising appeal in July 2007 to help raise the £20,000 we need to bring the NVT building up to new fire and safety standards. We're delighted with the amount raised so far but there's still some way to go. Please get involved if you can!
