The Crucible
by ARTHUR MILLER
directed by Mark Wilson

The Crucible poster - Click to enlargeThis new production places loss at its heart, as the central driver for the actions of its characters: loss of family, of faith, of love, loss of direction. That is why this production of Miller's most performed play feels so different. Yes, there is hysteria, greed and envy -- it is The Crucible! But now there is so much more.

Performed in the round, the characters take the audience through the intense humanity of their individual stories, so providing a very real and very live connection between their time and ours.

Talk

Talk poster - Click to enlargeSweetspot are extremely proud to present the world premiere of Mark Wilson's Talk. This haunting and affecting play focusses on the Victorian artist Richard Dadd, a manic depressive admitted to Bethlem Hospital (later known as Bedlam) after the murder of his father. Conflict over the nature of his treatment and the poignancy of his relationship with another patient make for a disturbing yet revelatory journey for Dadd.

A wonderful piece about hope, the isolation and anguish of mental illness and the overwhelming need to tell the stories that make us who we are.
