ben fearnside exhibition metal on canvas
Metal on Canvas is a retrospective of Ben's work. It includes a dynamic selection of older works and canvases from the new Containment series, revealed for the first time.
Although Ben works on a single plane, the paintings have an almost sculptural quality. They cross a wide colour spectrum from rich red and gold, vivid blue and pewter to the warm tones of amber and green copper. The scale ranges from intimate pieces to large statements.
"The creative process is as much alchemy as art, using secret combinations of metals, chemicals, paints and varnishes. These are living paintings that shift in different lights and evolve over time as metals oxidize." - BF
Ben's work perfectly compliments NVT's expansive and complex festival shows: Richard III and American Buffalo.
