Icarus
devised and directed
by Saskia Ulrike Schilling
Part of Brighton Festival Fringe 2010
|
Inspired by Ovid’s Poem and drawing on personal experience, the myth of Icarus -- his flight and fall -- is explored by three performers within a promenade setting.
Following an individual story, an emotional journey unfolds using strong visual and physical imagery. Set within the intimate space of the studio, audience members are invited to create their own pathways and explore different stories and perspectives.

Part of Brighton Festival Fringe 2010

Hamm, blind and chair-bound, is attended to by the stiff and dutiful Clov. Hamm's parents, Nagg & Nell, legless from a bicycle accident, are relegated to living in dustbins, not even able to reach each other to kiss. Someone has fleas and a rogue rat is on the loose. Outside, all seems dead and 'something is taking its course', whilst inside, the four protagonists torment each other with apocalyptic visions of what may be occurring beyond the confines of their self inflicted prison.

A View From The Bridge
by Arthur Miller
directed by Mark Wilson
|
Brooklyn, the late 1940s. No one can tell Eddie Carbone that his feelings for Catherine, the niece he and his wife have brought up, are far more than paternal; he isn’t consciously aware of them himself. Even when Catherine falls in love with Rodolpho, an illegal immigrant from Italy, he won’t recognise the violent jealousy he feels. His wife does. His wife sees everything but remains powerless as she watches Eddie’s increasing isolation, no one listening to his claims that Rodolpho’s love for Catherine is merely based upon a desire to get himself American citizenship. The course is set for chaos and a tragedy that engulfs the whole community.

Being Julie Jepson
Julie Jepson is an arresting and animated comedic presence. She mixes bubbly, conversation and wonderfully pithy stage patter with an array of comic voices whilst persuasively guiding the audience through her curious world view with a disarming charm.
Incorporating stories from Julie's adventures and observations of life in Brighton, the West Country and her native Rotherham in South Yorkshire, 'Being Julie Jepson' promises to be a fast paced, unpredictable hour of mirth and merriment.
