No Exit
by Jean-Paul Sartre
directed by Louise Gregory
|
Join us for an evening of torture, a journey into the depths of the unknown of Jean-Paul Satre's ‘No Exit’.
Set in hell, three characters come together in a way that shows their indispensability to one another: They become inextricably involved in each other's stories. ‘Hell is other people’. Man can use his freedom of thought, choice & action, which stands as an imprint on his essence, on his human makeup, and follows him for the rest of his days.

The Frogmore Poets 30th Birthday
in association with New Venture Theatre
Back in 1983 the Frogmore Tea-rooms in Folkestone, once a favoured haunt of H G Wells, were frequented by a group of young graduates with little money, few prospects - and literary aspirations. Thus, with liberal doses of a heady cocktail of coffee, enthusiasm for the written word and the peculiar West Folkestone air were The Frogmore Papers coaxed into being.
Celebrate the 30th birthday and 81st issue of the magazine that introduced readers to the likes of Katy Darby, Sophie Hannah and Tobias Hill, with readings from Maria Jastrzebska, John McCullough, Michaela Ridgway and founding editor Jeremy Page.

A Beginning, A Muddle and An End
an ensemble improvised piece
|
For five nights at the end of 2013's Brighton Festival Fringe, a brave band of NVT actors will be creating a full length play out of thin air ... It could be a comedy, it could be a tragedy - on the night that you see it, it could even be both at the same time! With a plot that's constantly evolving and changing, and a cast that will never know how the story ends until AFTER they've performed it, this is theatre that's raw, terrifying, and unpredictable .... And, night after night, genuinely one of a kind...

The Lover · Celebration
A Harold Pinter double-bill
The Lover directed by Kevin Moore
Celebration directed by Tim McQuillen-Wright
|
Two of Harold Pinter's short plays in one evening. The first, ‘The Lover’, which follows a couple's sexual fantasies, explores the power struggles within a marriage in a dark twisted tale where reality is left at the door.
And then ‘Celebration’. Pinter's final play is full of black humour and wicked satire aimed at a culture hung up on celebrating its own material success. The evening of plays is sure to delight Pinter fans and welcome new ones to the party.

The Building
an ensemble devised project
|
Following the success of award winning ‘Talking Dog’ (‘Most Innovation Production’ 2011/12), Sarah Davies (best actress for ‘Medea’ 2011/12) heads up a creative team as the director of ‘The Building’. It is a devised project resulting in a promenade performance where the audience get up close and personal with the lives of the population of the building. The foundations are laid, the building is currently recruiting its occupants ... the actors who will people the space and create the tale...!
